I attended WHS with you way back in the day. I was a new underclass kid when you were a senior and my transistion was rough but I remember a time in the front of the school when you and your seeing eye dog were almost hit by a guy who everyone though was a text book bully in his big ol truck. He waited until he was almost on you and then honked his horn and he laughed and laughed. When i asked you if you were ok you didnt seem phased by it. The same year that same guy had a horrible accident that unfortunatly changed him forever. The grace with which you handled yourself was something that stuck with me till this day. I was bullied all year being the new kid and it was rough but how you carried yourself was a reserve of stength for me to tap thru the years so i was not suprised to see you take on the amazing adventures you have to this point. its nice to see all the good that you are doing dude! I hope to see you speak sometime. I work at Qualcomm now and I think I will submit a request to have you come here!

Fantastic story. Exemplifies the fact that we each have our own mountains to conquer, despite them being of
different altitudes.

*dies laughing* Who knew shooting an oatmeal commercial in Canada would prove more harrowing than some of the climbs you've done! We Canadians eat oatmeal because we're hearty souls-you have to be to face winter here! Can't wait to see the Quaker commercial! Will keep an eye out!

Hello Erik!
You have a wonderful blog. I love the way you have the mountains at the top and when you click on them, it shows the story of climbing each one. Brilliant!
I found you when I was searching for more info on Kyle Maynard. I saw him on our local news when he climbed Stone Mountain. I enjoy reading about inspirational people (and being around them too!) I wrote about Kyle on my blog. I plan on writing more when it is closer to the date of his climb to Mt. Kilimanjaro! Lots of joy radiates from your blog...it's contagious! :-)

Hey Luke,
We are currently recruiting for our next Soldiers To The Summit program. You sound like an excellent candidate so I'd suggest applying for the program: www.soldierstothesummit.org. We'll be training in Colorado and then climbing a volcano in Ecuador next year.
Reach,
Erik

Erik, climbing Everest is one of my top goals in life, and I was wondering if you could give me any tips or advice on accomplishing this goal. Let me say that your story is inspiring and it has inspired me to go after something that I have always dreamed of completing successfully. I am a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran who was disabled during a bad accident and am hindered by bad ankle and knee problems, but still want to accomplish this feat. Any and all words will be heeded and highly appreciated. You rock dude! Thanks for all your inspiration!!
